The most groundbreaking lesson I took away from the Power of Habit must be that you can’t really erase old patterns or, say, delete, a bad habit. That’s why it’s so easy for us to fall back into our old ways,

it’s something we’re familiar and strangely comfortable with, but comfort oftentimes is the very source of our bad habits. Eating junk food and drinking soda is easier and thus more comfortable than learning as much as possible about nutrition and carefully paying attention to what you put in your body.

However, since you can’t erase your bad habits, you have to replace them with a good habit. See how in Part II here – https://youtu.be/SzgEpV-pz_c

  1. 10/10 video man, thank you for this, ilacertus. i really appreciate your videos, i find the videos both relaxing and exciting. i like your brutally constructive perspective on fulfilling ones potential. i love that!

  2. Thank you for this amazing video! I personally like that you provided examples as if they are from your life (whether true or not, they are very helpful).

I need to replace my bad habits (watching movies quite a lot) with new habits like working more, learning new skills, doing more exercise, reading a book or reflecting on my day and life.

    Have a great life! 🙂

  3. In my opinion listening to these People that "failed" to change their habits might be even more intreging. Just like Tomas Edisons famous quote "i didnt fail, i just found 2000 ways not to make a lightbulb".
I agree that that you should probably not follow their advice but these failed attempts are full of useful information. I have learned a lot more of people failing to go to the gym every day than from those who do

  4. This video does not summarize the book one bit. It's a rant from the narrator about their personal life. It's nice for what it is, but don't watch this as a replacement for reading Charles' excellent book!
